The popular Lyngby vase has gradually evolved into a true design classic. The vase is a symbol of minimalism and functional design. The Lyngby vase has become one of the most iconic designs from Lyngby Porcelain.

When the Lyngby vase was originally designed, it represented a stark contrast to the classic and very traditional porcelain techniques. The cylindrical shape and elegant simplicity were something entirely new. Until the 1920s, there was a tradition of ornaments and embellishments. The focus was more on decorating the porcelain than on the shape of the porcelain itself. The Lyngby vase challenged these traditions, heavily influenced by the functionalist Bauhaus movement in Germany, which emphasized form and functionality over decoration.
