The Crackle collection by Åsa Jungnelius for Kosta Boda challenges common prejudices and transforms the nightmare of a glassblower – broken glass – into a distinctive feature of the objects. Here, the cracked glass is used to give the pieces both beauty and a unique character. The shapes are created through manual carving from clay, while the cracked surface is made using a traditional technique that involves dipping hot glass into ice-cold water. This results in a series of fascinating objects whose appearance changes depending on the angle and distance, reminiscent of colored or clear ice sculptures. First launched in Kosta in 2020, the mouth-blown Crackle series includes a new mini vase and a votive candle holder, as well as three vases and a bowl. Crackle Circular was awarded the prestigious international "Best of the Best" Red Dot Design Award.
