They were conceived as a conscious and strong argument against any ornamentation and lavish decoration, and are consistently oriented towards minimalist principles and mathematical conciseness. Originally, the candlesticks and bowls were not intended for mass production by their spiritual father, Mogens Lassen, who had them made in exclusive small editions for his family and friends. Nevertheless, they quickly gained a worldwide reputation among architects and connoisseurs - not least because of the borrowings they draw from the timeless style of the Bauhaus school.
