Application: Toothache companion during the wait for a dental appointment: In 50ml of frankincense hydrosol, add 3 drops of clove bud and 3 drops of cajeput. Spray on the affected area in the mouth, let it sit, and then spit it out. Shake well before use.
It can induce contractions, so it should not be used during pregnancy without therapeutic supervision. Nevertheless, clove oil is a popular aid during childbirth. It can be skin-irritating, so use with caution. For toothaches, a whole clove is often chewed to provide relief. Clove bud oil is much milder and more tolerable than the cheaper oil made from clove leaves. It is a highly antibacterial, antiviral, and germicidal oil.
