Ensure that your candle does not feel cold when lit and make sure that the first burn lasts at least two hours. To avoid tunneling, you want the liquid wax to reach the edges. Generally, the wick should be kept at about 15 mm to prevent an unstable flame. Trimming is best done before lighting. Try to avoid short burn times, as this can promote tunneling. Likewise, avoid burn times longer than four hours. Ensure that no residue is left on the wax, as this can affect the flame and potentially cause smoke. To prevent discoloration and melting, keep your candle away from direct sunlight.
