actually, you could leave it outside without any problems as long as it doesn't come into contact with direct moisture. however, due to the cold we are currently experiencing frost which can quickly accumulate on the LED's or on/in the control gear, so I would advise against it.

No. But it also doesn't mean that the chain immediately gives up the ghost when you hang it up outside. :)
