Is it possible to switch the unit off completely? According to a comment below, the unit clicks in sleep mode, and since I would put it in my room, that would be rather suboptimal...?

The unit can be switched off completely. Even in idle mode, the unit is completely silent. The described clicking sound is unknown to us and is not normally present.
