Xiao Lin Cartoons

Xiao Lin's art is in the tradition of the humorous and profound drawings by Feng Zikai (1898-1975), painted with an ink brush. The Taiwanese cartoonist Tsai Chih-chung (born 1948) is a role model for Xiao Lin with his comics on classical Chinese literature. Image and text form an inseparable unity in Xiao Lin's cartoons. They express the philosophy of Taoism and Zen Buddhism. They deal exquisitely with everyday topics such as love, friendship, money, work, mobile phones and family. The viewer recognises himself in many situations. Xiao Lin thus follows the Chinese tradition of teaching by example.
