When the first book is published by Verbrecher Verlag in August 1995 - Dietmar Dath's debut novel "Cordula kills you! Or: We are not the nemesis of every pipe guy. A novel of resurrection" - two things are clear: 1. This is not an ordinary publishing house. 2. It will not become an ordinary publishing house. And that is exactly what has happened: After the first book and some recognition for it, no further publications follow for four years. Then, collected editions begin, and today, world-famous debut authors are published. With the Mühsam diaries, the first critical collected edition is released in print and online. Some announced books never appear. Others, long-promised books, suddenly do. The police call to check if everything is in order at a publishing house of such a name. The initially weekly Verbrecher meetings often turn into ecstatic parties. Taxes must be paid. Publishing awards are won. For 30 years, the publishing house has been making history, but its own story has yet to be written. We are changing that with this fully illustrated chronicle.
