Gentleman has brought reggae from Germany to the international stage. For 30 years, the Cologne-based artist has been making music history as the only European who has achieved worldwide success as an authentic reggae musician. With the new studio album "Mad World," he marks another milestone that takes him back to his musical roots while simultaneously advancing his life's work. The title "Mad World" describes the increasingly chaotic state of our society from an observer's perspective. As an artist and musician, Gentleman cannot be neutral or apolitical; he sees it as his duty to name problems and offer solutions. Reggae has never lost its rebellious character; addressing uncomfortable truths is part of its DNA—while simultaneously instilling hope that these issues can be overcome. The album "Mad World" was created during a phase in Gentleman’s life when he escaped the fast-paced and superficial life of the city and re-situated himself amidst the inspiring landscape of Mallorca: less digital distraction, more natural impressions now define his daily life. This reduction of complexity is reflected in the songs: the solutions to an increasingly complicated world lie in simplicity. And in the belief that, in the end, good will triumph—whether on a grand scale or in the small, personal moments.
