UK50-4 Franconian Forest Nature Park (surrounding area map 1:50000)

The official series of UK50 (surrounding map 1:50000) provides targeted leisure information for contiguous Bavarian regions. The map is based on the TK50 (topographic map 1:50000) with UTM grid for GPS users and terrain representation.

The entire Franconian Forest Nature Park, also known as the "Green Crown of Bavaria," is presented by the surrounding map UK50-4. The map extends from Neustadt b.Coburg in the east to Bad Berneck i.Fichtelgebirge in the west. To the north, the adjacent area in Thuringia is depicted, including Bad Lobenstein and the Bleiloch Reservoir, Germany's largest reservoir. Cyclists explore the diverse landscape along the Rennsteig Cycle Path. The Main Cycle Path runs through the Franconian Forest, passing through the beer town of Kulmbach and the confluence of the red and white Main rivers at Schloss Steinenhausen, the cradle of the Main. Beautiful day trips are available around Kronach and Kulmbach, where several notable castles can be visited, such as the Rosenberg Fortress and Lauenstein Castle. Hikers can explore the nature park in all its diversity along the 243 km long FrankenwaldSteig trail, which passes by the Steinach Gorge near Wildenstein. The Castle Trail, with two different routes, runs from Lauenstein at the northernmost end of the Franconian Forest, over the Rosenberg Fortress and the water castle Mitwitz to the Plassenburg in Kulmbach. Tours through the Kremnitztal valley near Wilhelmsthal provide a unique nature experience. The Franconian Forest offers diverse discovery opportunities away from mass tourism in the heart of Germany. Families can enjoy a lovely day at the Copper Mountain Adventure World or the Zoo in Sonneberg. Unforgettable memories can be made on a rafting trip on the wild Rodach in Wallenfels.
