Biographies are becoming increasingly rare to unfold in a straightforward manner. Nowadays, people are confronted with constant change, which gives their lives the appearance of being provisional and random. It is becoming more difficult to find an inner coherence in one's own life story. This situation requires, more than ever, attention to the interplay between the individual and their life world. Are we not essentially just players on the stage of our own story? Does not much of what we try to avoid come back to us under changed life conditions? Do we not often only make necessary changes and long-overdue developments when new life circumstances demand them from us? Or when they create space for realization? Does our personality not unfold in interaction with the opportunities presented by the environment, as described by the ecological perspective of life courses?.
