The centerpiece of this hiking map through the Thuringian Forest Nature Park is the half-timbered and university town of Schmalkalden, as well as the state-recognized spa town of Steinbach-Hallenberg. It includes not only hiking trails but also ski trails and cycling routes. The map section extends from Tambach-Dietharz and Brotterode-Trusetal in the north to Viernau and Zella-Mehlis in the south, and from Fambach in the west to Oberschönau in the east. Other notable places within the map area are Floh-Seligenthal, Rotterode, Altersbach, Wasungen, and Springstille.
