Seventeen-year-old Aleksy despises his mother because she is ugly and has failed as a parent. When she picks him up from the youth home, he wants nothing to do with her. Nevertheless, he is persuaded to go on a vacation in France with her, the bribe being her car. Once they arrive in the small village, where he feels out of place and struggles to get along with the quirky locals, he learns the truth about his mother. Painful memories from his childhood constantly haunt him, and the unfamiliar concern for his mother overshadows his first awkward experience of love. After this summer, nothing in his life will be the same again.
