Telephone counselling

Jörg Liemann, born in 1964, was perhaps the youngest telephone counselor in Germany during the 1980s. After receiving appropriate training, he served as a volunteer at the Berlin Telephone Counseling Service e.V. for several years, working night shifts. With his crime series featuring the Berlin detective Kai Sternenberg, Jörg Liemann processed his counseling experiences and encounters without breaching confidentiality, transferring them into fictional scenarios. Two volumes were published by Goldmann Verlag; the series will be reissued and completed in e-book format starting in 2018.

Now, he presents "Telefonseelsorgen," a collection of short stories, most of which are sharply focused on dialogue. Not all events are set in established telephone counseling institutions in Germany and abroad; some transport us to unexpected times and situations - even to the bizarre. In science thrillers published by Aufbau Verlag, Jörg Liemann explored complex processes in our brains with themes of puberty and dementia. His 100-page story "Gesinnungshemmer" was premiered by Verena Busche in 2016 on the stage of the Berliner Brotfabrik. The cover features a painting and two drawings inside by Katrin Geiges.
