Metal connections to plaster, external thermal insulation, and thermal insulation composite systems (ETICS) or plastered external thermal insulation (VAWD), applied in both new and existing buildings, present specific requirements for execution. In many cases, defects or even damage to thermal insulation, plaster, and coatings can occur due to uncontrolled thermal stress on the metal components. The cause often lies in inadequate planning, tendering, and execution of the interface between metal connections and thermal insulation (ETICS/VAWD), plaster, and coatings. This guideline describes the state of the art as of the publication date in 2018.
