The company Pentel was founded in 1946 as "The Japan Stationary Corporation" in war-torn Japan, initially focusing on the production of watercolor and oil paints as well as drawing pencils for kindergartens and schools. Numerous achievements in the writing and painting product world are attributed to its own research and development laboratory. Examples include the first 0.9 mm fine lead for mechanical pencils, the first fiber tip pen "SignPen," the first rollerball pen "Ball Pentel," and the first correction fluid with a writing tip instead of a brush.
