With his intuition for the right content, Giuseppe Verdi (1813–1901) created works like Aida and Rigoletto, which simply embody the general understanding of opera. Our notebook "Verdi, Carteggio" features an excerpt from Verdi's correspondence. May his legacy guide your hand.
"Follow your talent." This wisdom directed many of the decisions of the most famous opera composer in human history. Giuseppe Verdi (*1813, †1901) was not the most educated composer of his time, but with his intuition for the right content, he created works that simply represent the essence of the general understanding of opera. Thanks to masterpieces like Aida and Rigoletto, there are few among us who have never listened to Verdi's music.
His pieces are so characteristic that other composers do not even dare to attempt to use them, and his operas have secured their place in contemporary opera programs since his death in 1901.
An excerpt from Verdi's correspondence is depicted here. May his natural, refined intuition live on forever on the stages of the world, and may his legacy guide your hand.
