Zur Geschichte des Eigengebrauchs im schweizerischen Urheberrecht

The regulation of personal use is the most important barrier of Swiss copyright law. It largely exempts the use of copyrighted works by private individuals, in education and within companies and other organisations, but provides for remuneration for certain uses. From mere fragments in the first copyright law to the current regulation, the restriction has been continuously expanded. The driving force has been technical progress, which has made new acts of use possible, and developments at the international level. This booklet traces the historical development, makes the relevant sources available and thus provides the basis for a well-founded historical interpretation of today's regulation.
