Nostalgia

After forty-five years, Felice Lasco returns to Naples, to the Sanità neighborhood where he was born. His mother is dying, and he cares for her, albeit belatedly, with devotion until the end. After her death, Felice listens to his inner voice and stays, despite his wife waiting for him in Cairo. He himself is waiting for a meeting with Oreste, his childhood friend, who is considered a hardened criminal.

Felice tells his story to a retired cardiologist and Don Luigi Rega, the combative priest of Sanità: Felice is seventeen, proud of his motorcycle and his friendship with Oreste Spasiano. He becomes Oreste's accomplice in increasingly daring heists. Then a burglary ends fatally. Felice freezes in agonizing silence until his mother's brother takes him to Beirut. An escape into a new life, plagued by nostalgia and the shadows of the past.

Now, after all this time, Felice exposes himself to the painful beauty of his city. He accompanies Don Rega through the familiar neighborhood. Until he truly encounters Oreste. There is no ransom to buy oneself out of one’s own story.
