Product details
The KOMPASS hiking map is now even clearer and more readable. The free app for on-the-go use is also included. This forms the perfect foundation for planning a hiking tour. The precise cartography shows all walkable hiking trails, including classifications. Information such as swimming pools, climbing routes, playgrounds, huts, and much more are also included on the map. For the first time, KOMPASS presents a set of four map pages covering the entire Harz region. The representation at a scale of 1:50,000 leaves nothing to be desired in terms of expressiveness, accuracy, and detail fidelity. At an elevation of 1,141 meters, the Brocken towers over the Harz. The name of this small mountain area already indicates what grows there: In the Middle Ages, the intersection between Lower Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, and Thuringia was simply called "Hart," which means (mountain) forest. Since 2006, the first cross-border national park in Germany has been located in the Harz. To be precise, it consists of the Harz National Park (Lower Saxony) and the Hochharz National Park (Saxony-Anhalt). This significantly enhances the entire hiking area from a tourist perspective.
