Product details
The federal state offers magnificent opportunities for cycling between the Baltic Sea beach and the lake district. Popular long-distance cycling routes such as the Berlin-Usedom Cycle Route, the Oder-Neisse Cycle Route, and the Baltic Coast Cycle Route cross the Vorpommern mainland. The Vorpommern Bodden Landscape National Park protects the coastal area of the Baltic Sea and the Bodden waters between the Darss-Zingst peninsula and the west coast of Rügen. The crane migrations in autumn are particularly impressive. Rügen boasts a great variety of landscapes: green hills and small mountains, spits, reed belts, long sandy beaches along the Bodden and the Baltic Sea, and the famous chalk cliffs of the legendary steep coast. The island of Usedom, the Szczecin Lagoon, and the Lower Peene Valley form a fascinating coastal landscape. Mecklenburg is known as the "Land of 1000 Lakes": the Müritz is the largest lake entirely within Germany, with its eastern border belonging to the Müritz National Park. In the Hanseatic cities of Wismar, Rostock, Stralsund, Greifswald, Wolgast, and Anklam, impressive testimonies of the powerful medieval cities and trade alliance can be found. Over 2000 castles, fortresses, palaces, and manor houses tell the story of this region's more than 1000-year history.
