Johanna Haarer - The German mother and her first child

With this sentence, Johanna Haarer concluded the preface of her book "The German Mother and Her First Child," clearly indicating the role assigned to women in Nazi Germany. The first child is a significant challenge for every woman. Many new responsibilities arise for the expectant mother, along with the fear of making mistakes that could harm the child during pregnancy or afterward through improper behavior. It is not uncommon for the woman to seek support alongside medical care.
