Inselsberg

In the northwest of the Thuringian Forest rises the Inselsberg, prominently visible at a height of 916 meters above sea level. Although the Grosse Inselsberg is not the highest mountain in the Thuringian Forest, it is the most distinctive. From its plateau, there is a wide panoramic view over the Thuringian Forest. The unique long-distance view and the Rennsteig trail that runs directly over the mountain peak make the Inselsberg a popular hiking destination.
