Ice Age

Kevin Lötscher, Nadine Gerber, German

Product details

Kevin Lötscher is just 23 years old when he scores two goals as an international ice hockey player against the USA at his first senior World Cup on 9 May 2011. All doors are open to him - even those to
the best ice hockey league in the world, the NHL. But just five days later, everything changes. On 14 May 2011, he is hit by a drunk driver in the Valais and flies thirty metres onto a pile of gravel. Unconsciousness, danger to life. Lötscher suffers a severe craniocerebral trauma and has to relearn the simplest things like walking or eating. Against all medical prognoses, he makes it back onto the ice. But he has to realise: The days of the "golden hands" are over. The after-effects of the accident are too strong. He steps back - and falls into a deep hole. EISZEIT documents Kevin Lötscher's time on the ice, but also the cold, dark time afterwards. He tells how he found his way out of the hole and came to an important realisation: The playmaker in your life is always yourself.
