Product details
Reprint of a map from Gea Verlag Berlin - rolled, dimensions (width x height) 88 x 66 cm. Border and area-colored map. Delivered in a very sturdy cardboard shipping tube. Colorful representation of countries - without the names of the countries. The depiction is reduced by 10% from the original. The map of Europe from April 1939 was only current for 6 months. Nevertheless, it vividly illustrates 20 years of changes on the continent after World War I, from June 28, 1919 (Treaty of Versailles) to March 1939. All country names have been omitted. The changes in Europe depicted on the map from 1938 and 1939 include: 1. The Greater German Reich after the annexation of Austria on March 12 and 13, 1938 to the German Reich. 2. With the Munich Agreement of September 30, 1938, the Sudetenland was incorporated into the German Reich on October 1/2, 1938. 3. In October 1938, Poland annexed the Olsztyn region in Czechoslovakia as part of the Munich Agreement and against the will of the Czech government. 4. Hungary occupied border areas of Czechoslovakia following a Vienna arbitration ruling from November 1938 and the Carpathian Ukraine from March 1939. These are the last changes on the European map from April 1939. The takeover of the Iskenderun area (Hatay State) in Syria by Turkey following a referendum has not yet been marked. The invasion of Poland by Nazi Germany on September 1, 1939, and Poland's capitulation on October 6, 1939, fundamentally changed Europe once again.
