Product details
The common maps of Swiss history trace back to the Historical Atlas of Switzerland by Karl Schib and Hektor Ammann, first published in 1951 by Sauerländer. Since the 1950s, historical research has advanced significantly; in particular, the Historical Dictionary of Switzerland has made valuable contributions regarding cartographic material. Marco Zanoli began years ago to write articles on Swiss history and illustrate them with maps. The Swiss historian François Walter provided relevant introductions to these maps, and the resulting work was published in French in October 2020. Now, the Atlas historique de la Suisse is available in German, slightly revised and supplemented with half a dozen additional maps. This standard work offers an overview of Swiss history from prehistory to the present and incorporates the current state of research.
