Product details
The Swabian Jura is a heavily eroded mountain ridge located north of the Danube, known for its striking 200 km steep drop to the north, the Albtrauf. On the prominent plateau mountains, you can find famous castles such as Hohenzollern Castle, Hohenneuffen, and Teck Castle. It's a landscape to fall in love with: limestone cliffs rise above forests and well-tended fields, interspersed with charming villages and old farmhouses. Nature lovers will also discover a variety of special treasures in the Swabian Jura, such as the Blue Cave with its turquoise water outlet, the Blautopf. Stuttgart, the metropolis of the state of Baden-Württemberg, lies "between forests and vineyards." From the so-called "Stuttgart basin," through the Glemswald and Schurwald, the elevation rises within the city limits by almost 350 m up to Bernhardshöhe. Where the Iller mixes its mountain water from the Allgäu Alps into the still young Danube, lies the city of Ulm. This university city in Baden-Württemberg is a particular highlight in the Danube Valley. The 120,000-inhabitant city on the edge of the Swabian Jura is especially famous for its Gothic cathedral, whose tower, at over 161 m, is the tallest in the world.
