Destination:
The hiking area of the Chiemgau Alps extends to Lake Chiemsee in the north, the Bavarian Inn Valley in the west, the Saalach in the east, and the Austrian border in the south – featuring the prominent peaks of Sonntagshorn, Fellhorn, and Spitzsteinhorn. Aschau, Marquartstein, Reit im Winkl, Inzell, and Ruhpolding are the most well-known towns. Many of the summits are accessible via cable cars; the numerous gorges (e.g., Weissbachklamm), high pastures (e.g., Hemmersuppenalm, Winklmoosalm), and moors (Röthelmoos) are also interesting. The Eco Model Achental (a merger of 9 municipalities, including Reit im Winkl and Marquartstein since 2012) serves as a model example for the preservation of the Chiemgau natural and cultural landscape.

Product Brief:
The sporting highlight: Geigelstein, the Chiemgau "Flower Mountain," is designated as a nature reserve. The family highlight: These peaks are easily accessible with ascent aids and are suitable family destinations: Hochries, Geigelstein, Kampenwand, Hochplatte, Dürrnbachhorn, Hochfelln, Unternberg, Rauschberg. The "Smuggler's Path" from Ettenhausen to the pilgrimage chapel Klobenstein features a spectacular suspension bridge over the Entenlochklamm. The culinary highlight: A view into the Weissbach Gorge from the sun terrace of Hotel Mauthäusl with homemade cakes; a grand view of Geigelstein and Breitenstein while enjoying homemade dumplings at the mountain inn Streichen. The personal highlight: The Streicher tour around the Inzeller Kienberg: a variety of trails, an easy summit goal (Streicher), and more.
