Hallenberg is located in the foothills of the Rothaar Mountains in North Rhine-Westphalia, right at the Hessian border, and has approximately 4,900 inhabitants, including its districts of Hesborn, Braunshausen, and Liesen. The third smallest town in NRW is known as a pilgrimage site dedicated to Mary and for the traditional Hallenberg Easter Night, as well as the unique open-air stage in the former quarry. This half-timbered town is nestled in the Medebach Bay, which has been designated as a European bird protection area due to its high ecological significance and is home to many endangered animal and plant species. The Kump Information Center, located directly at the marketplace, serves as a point of contact for visitors and residents of Hallenberg, providing information on topics such as history, customs, tourism, nature, and the economy.
