Product details

The diary "Glossarium" contains the thoughts of Carl Schmitt from a good decade of his later life. The first edition from 1991 attracted significant attention; however, it remained unsatisfactory due to numerous errors and incorrect transcriptions from the manuscript. Most notably, it was a torso, as it only included the first three parts and left out the last two. The new edition is not only a corrected second edition but also a completely newly produced text from the manuscript of all five parts of the "Glossarium," which is commented on briefly and modestly. Created during a time that cast him out of the life path of a bourgeois scholar, Carl Schmitt perceived the new situation with the resentments, but also with the Tocquevillian clarity of the defeated. Against the interpretation of the victors, who viewed defeat as liberation, Schmitt spoke of "false liberation," asserting that while the victor writes history, the defeated is the wiser one.
