Using instruments of social diagnostics in practice is already part of everyday life for social workers working in addiction support. However, they have hardly been described systematically so far. The book collects successfully applied tools that can be used in different fields of social work in addiction support, e.g. black box diagnostics, biographical timelines or real-time monitoring. The participatory understanding that diagnoses are partly made together with clients is also given special consideration. The various instruments are preceded by a review of the history of social diagnosis in addiction support and a theoretical justification for social diagnosis in this field of action. The articles come from Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Great Britain.
