Travel Guide Fehmarn
Travel differently and discover the extraordinary: With the current tips from the Michael Müller travel guides, you can plan your trip individually, sustainably, and safely.
An ideal destination for discovery trips right at your doorstep is the island of Fehmarn. It is refreshingly normal yet surprisingly diverse. This is what our author Dieter Katz writes in the fifth edition of the travel guide Fehmarn, which was awarded the ITB Book Award in 2016. In 216 pages with 127 color photos, he showcases the entire splendor of the diverse and colorful third-largest German Baltic Sea island.
Eleven maps and plans, including an overview map, make the island feel like your second home. More than 20 beaches and five lighthouses are described in detail. Ecologically, regionally, and sustainably operating businesses are highlighted. Our author has researched and tested everything on-site for you.
Numerous short essays provide interesting background information. Dieter Katz's insider tips reveal particularly worthwhile destinations, such as accommodations or restaurants that locals also frequent. Tried-and-true tips and useful travel advice round out the Fehmarn travel guide.
Overview of Fehmarn
The varied coastline fascinates with the contrast of steep cliffs and flat shores, where fine sandy beaches alternate with rocky and rugged ones. Burg is the island's metropolis: a charming small town with inviting shops and restaurants around the historic marketplace. This includes the lively harbor of Burgstaaken and the wide, sandy South Beach on the adjacent peninsula of Burgtiefe.
44 mostly very small farming villages are spread across the island. Orth and Lemkenhafen are the only harbor villages, while the rest are somewhat sheltered inland. Each village offers numerous holiday accommodations.
