The Story of an American Soldier in World War II
Summary:
500 days of war in distant Europe. Felix Sparks (1917-2007) came from a mining family in Arizona and enlisted in the Army after high school because he couldn't find work during the Great Depression. He then attended college to study law and was called back to service when the U.S. entered the war. He participated in the invasion of Sicily in 1943, was the sole survivor of his unit in the Battle of Anzio, survived the German Ardennes Offensive, fought in the urban combat in Aschaffenburg, where the Volkssturm attempted to stop the Americans, and commanded the unit that liberated Dachau.
