Concrete calendar 2024

The Concrete Calendar 2024 dedicates Volume 1 to the design, calculation, and construction of high-rise buildings made of reinforced concrete according to current regulations. The opening of Volume 1 features the article on concrete, which has been updated by the authors to reflect the latest developments. Following this, the specific challenges associated with the use of recycled concrete and adjustments in construction methods with a focus on circular economy are explored in depth. The construction of high-rise buildings made of reinforced concrete in accordance with current regulations and the state of knowledge is comprehensively presented in a foundational article on design and construction. The particular challenges of founding high-rise buildings are examined in a separate contribution. This thematic focus is rounded off with articles on post-installed reinforcement bars, the specifics of load-bearing thermal and sound-insulated component connections, and shear connectors, as well as a statement from the Federal Ministry of Construction addressing various questions from the editors regarding the future and sustainability in high-rise construction.

Volume 2 focuses on digital planning and construction robotics. Individual contributions on integral 3D architecture and structural planning with BIM, the digitalization of testing procedures and monitoring of structures, as well as the application of AI methods for integrating structural engineering knowledge into the early phases of building design, demonstrate how multifaceted and profound the digital transformation is permeating planning processes. The focus is complemented by a look at the data space for sustainability in construction and the requirements for the verifiability of digital 3D plans. Progress in the digitalization of construction execution is subsequently reported in the article on construction automation and robotics in concrete construction, featuring various case studies on research, development, and innovation.

Volume 2 concludes with the chapter "Standards and Regulations," including the printed DAfStb guideline.
