The Pastelmat paper for pastel painting is unique and innovative at the same time. It is mounted on thick cardboard of 1.8 mm for added stability. The Pastelmat paper is easier to frame and allows the artist to work directly on the easel. Its velvety surface with a soft feel leads to excellent pigment absorption capacity and enables layering of multiple color layers without saturation effects. The less rough surface also produces very little pastel dust during work. As a result, pigment consumption is 30 to 40% lower than with conventional sandpaper. The Pastelmat paper can also be used for wet techniques, with water-based paint or denatured alcohol-based paint, without compromising its unique properties.
