Product details
Under the title 'Kanon und Kanonisierung' (Canon and Canonization), an interdisciplinary conference was held at the University of Lucerne in the fall of 2010, the contributions to which are collected in the present volume. The concept of the canon has become a key term in cultural studies in recent years. It denotes highly binding forms of cultural self-assurance, which experience particular conciseness in the medium of writing. A canon cannot be continued and changed in its form, a canonical collection cannot be supplemented by new elements. As a text in its final form, the canon has normative power and authority. It virtually stands for the exemplary condensation of the relationship between text and normativity. The volume contains contributions from the fields of theology, philosophy, jurisprudence, religious studies, and East Asian cultural studies. Contributions Paolo Becchi (Genoa/Lucerne): Hegel and the Problem of the Canon Reinhold Bernhardt (Basel): The Crisis of the Protestant Scriptural Principle Karl Heinz Bohrer (Princeton): Canon and Invention. The Greek Paradigm Max Deeg (Cardiff): Of Collectors and Scribes - Canonization and Codification in the Religious Traditions of Asia Daniela Demko (Lucerne): The Normative Constitution and Canonization of International Criminal Law Christoph Dohmen (Regensburg): More than a Canon. The Bible as the Basis of Different Faith Communities Peter Hofmann (Augsburg): Canon actionis. Action and Text according to the Liturgical Form of the First High Prayer (Canon Romanus) Jani Kirov (Frankfurt a.M.): Ius quasi muro vallatum. The Codification of Law in Late Antiquity Massimo Mori (Turin): Kant: Text and Canon of Reason Arbogast Schmitt (Marburg): Two Different Ways of Justifying Norms in Poetry. Aristotle and Horace and their significance for the understanding of literature in modern times Thomas Steinfeld (Lucerne): Stairway to Heaven. Über Entstehung und.
