Product details
Burgenland is an excellent destination for cycling enthusiasts. A colorful variety of cycling routes of different lengths and characteristics caters to all preferences. In the Neusiedlersee region, you will find family-friendly bike paths with little traffic and no steep inclines. The Neusiedler See cycle path was awarded 5 stars in 2012, making it the only Austrian bike path to receive this distinction; it offers the highest enjoyment for cyclists.
In the sunny Mittelburgenland, the terrain becomes a bit hillier, and in Südburgenland, you can expect some quite steep climbs to lofty heights with wonderful views of the beautiful landscape. The Jubiläumsradweg R 1 takes you completely through Burgenland, from the far north to deep in the south, allowing you to experience the unique diversity of this federal state.
The Iron Curtain Trail (ICT), also known as the Europe Cycle Route Iron Curtain and EuroVelo Route EV13, runs along the Austrian-Hungarian border to Slovenia. During the Cold War, the route of today's bike path followed the "Iron Curtain," the border between East and West, or the Warsaw Pact countries and NATO.
