Bacardi Cork/Corcaigh
Product details
The Historical Atlas of Cork offers a comprehensive exploration of the city from its beginnings to the present day. It documents the development of Cork from a monastic settlement in a bog area to a thriving city. The atlas includes carefully researched texts, complemented by newly designed thematic maps, historical views, and photographs. The large-format pages illustrate how the topography has changed over time. An extensive gazetteer with over 13,000 locations and accompanying essays provides a detailed topographical history of the city up to around 1900. This atlas is part of a long-term research project by the Royal Irish Academy, which has published numerous atlases of Irish cities and towns since 1986. Cork joins the ranks of other cities already covered, such as Dublin, Belfast, Galway, and Limerick, contributing to a broader international initiative that encompasses over 580 European cities.
