Founded in 1946 as Zweckform Schreibwaren und Bürobedarfs GmbH in a former cow barn in Oberlaindern, Bavaria, the company initially produced form and carbonless copy books successfully, and later also receipt books and other office supplies. In 1956, it signed a licensing agreement with the label company of American Stan Avery, who had developed the world’s first self-adhesive labels some 20 years earlier.
