The freedom of jazz and the lightness of pop are two defining elements of Dephazz. On Audio Elastique, their ninth album, you will find swinging sound collages that blend chanson (Men Who Kiss Trophies, Not Sally), smash bits (The Ball Is My Friend), and classic jazz (Prelude). "Electro-organic" aptly describes the sound of the 16 tracks on Audio Elastique, shaped by Pit Baumgartner's distinctive production method: Cut & Glue. This involves cutting sound fragments from their usual musical context and reattaching them elsewhere. Through various filters, effects, and twists, an audio-elastic atmosphere is created, sometimes resembling a radio play. However, whenever singers Pat Appleton, Karl Frierson, Barbara Lahr, or Sandie Wollasch appear, the audio components coalesce into groovy jazz or rolling pop.
