Andree's General Atlas is a work of cartography. The atlas is named after Richard Andree (1835-1912) and was published by Velhagen & Klasing in Bielefeld and Leipzig from 1881 to 1937. Andree originally used chromolithographic plates instead of copper engravings, allowing him to offer maps with good resolution and detail at an affordable price. With the exception of the 1937 edition, which was produced using offset printing, the Andree was reproduced using zinc plates in a letterpress process that allows for finer color gradations.
