Product details
Fifteen-year-old Charlotte Nowak, who is very shy, reluctantly goes to summer camp with seven other girls. However, things quickly turn out to be different than expected: items start to disappear, and when the group leader loses her temper one morning, the girls flee, steal a dog catcher’s van along with some dogs, and head to the Ore Mountains, where one of them knows an old mine. Here, they navigate increasingly free, exciting, and beautiful summer days filled with forest adventures and nighttime excursions to supermarket dumpsters – and Charly Nowak realizes that she is not just shy. But suddenly, the girls stumble upon a sensitive legacy from the GDR, the outside world catches up with them, and then there’s first love. Charly must prove what she has just discovered about courage and friendship. Kirsten narrates with charming directness and great warmth.
