Basic income and value orientations
GermanProduct details
The idea of the basic income as an income claim on society that is independent of work performance has met with approval in all political camps. But it is also the subject of intense debate. This makes it all the more important to clarify the underlying value orientations of this idea. Values take on a generative function for the development of interests and new institutions. The proponents of the basic income argue against the dominance of performance and work ethics in the modern welfare state for a comprehensive concept of work and for an integration of freedom and solidarity in the values of recognition and participation. This empirical study is based on the analysis of interpretative patterns of qualitative interviews with middle and higher officials from politics, social work and business. It shows their ambivalent value orientations towards the idea d.
