Product details

This book provides an overview of the three central phases of globalization in modernity: the 16th to 18th centuries, the second half of the 19th century until the First World War, and the second half of the 20th century until the 2010s. International economic relations are presented on the basis of goods, labour and financial markets, world economic and monetary systems, including trade and monetary policies, as well as the organisational forms and market strategies of economic actors, i.e. merchants, trading companies and international enterprises. The book is structured chronologically, whereby the representation of the different epochs follows the same systematics. For the first time since the 16th century, this is a comprehensive presentation of international economic relations that makes a rigorous comparison between different economic relations.
