Introduction to the ICF

The ICF is the International Classification of Functioning, Disability, and Health. It was developed by the WHO as a complement to the ICD. Its main characteristic is primarily the concept of functional health. Essential for the German healthcare system is that its systematics are significant for all areas of disability services and rehabilitation. It must be used for the application and justification of all rehabilitation measures covered by statutory health insurance. The SGB IX is fundamentally based on the ICF with its definition of disability and the introduction of the concept of participation. What concepts and terms are behind the ICF?
