Product details

The Hungarian Revolution of 1956 and the Prague Spring of 1968 are considered extensively researched, primarily from a national historical and great power perspective. However, a systematic and multiperspective examination of the connections between the two reform movements has yet to be conducted. This study of entangled histories aims to fill this gap: it removes the reform attempts from their national and great power political context and expands the existing view of the crises of socialism. At the same time, it comparably and transfer-analytically links the two prominent reform attempts and reveals transnational and social historical influencing factors. These provide new insights into how state socialist regimes have faltered or remained relatively stable.
