Product details

Munich has its own café culture. In contrast to Vienna, where the legend of the siege of the city by the Turks is the reason for the love of the brown drink, Munich has a strong connection to the south: from the late 17th century onwards, Munich also became the "northernmost city of Italy" in terms of coffee enjoyment and has remained so to a large extent to this day. The history of its cafés also reflects the pulsating social life of the state capital. In addition, Bavarian confectionery, cakes, pastries and pastries have been testimony for centuries to the sensual joie de vivre that can be enjoyed in the Isar metropolis. The art of the confectioners is also often a sign of their time. The Prinzregententorte, created in 1886 in honour of the Bavarian Prince Regent Luitpold, symbolises the former government districts of Bavaria with its eight sponge cakes.
