Question about Dell C1422H Portable Monitor

Why can't an iPhone 11 Pro Max (IOS 15.4.1) be connected to the Dell 14 Portable Monitor C1422H via a Lightning/USB-C cable? The monitor does not recognise a USB-C port and goes into standby mode, even with an AC adapter connected to the second USB-C port. "USB Accessories" in the iPhone settings is switched on.

It works for me with a Samsung S21 Ultra without any problems.
But: on my PC or notebook it is very picky... I have tested various connection options and hardly any configuration works! I only managed to get it to work on a Lenovo notebook.
I then bought a portable monitor on Aliexpress: This one works with almost every configuration. ...well...

I don't know for sure. But I suspect that mobile phones do not have a graphics processor/driver for external monitors on board. Regardless of whether it's iOS or Android. It may be possible via a wireless connection (screen sharing).
