which lens is better for the lumix g81, the 12-60mm or the 14-140mm, and what are the advantages of the better lens for the camera?

I agree with the opinion of @Justlife1000. But if the 12-60mm F3.5-5.6 was meant, I would prefer the 14-140mm, as the 12-60mm in question offers hardly any advantages in terms of quality. Only the starting focal length of 12mm could be an argument.

If you're talking about the 12-60mm 2.8-4.0 ASPH, the 12-60mm is the clear favourite. Lets in more light, better for low-light situations, sharper results. "Superzooms" like the 14-140mm quickly lose quality at the long end. The 12-60mm has a 5x zoom and gives a little more wide angle + sharper results, the 14-140mm has a 10x zoom. Both have a stabiliser. The 12-60mm is more compact than the 14-140, but you have more flexibility with the 14-140mm, great for holiday photos. We use the camera with the 14-140mm in the office to shoot houses and facades and are very satisfied.
